To Miltenberg

Day 4

View River Cruise on Basebrown's travel map.

This morning was a sleep in morning. We had no activity scheduled until after lunch. We were sailing on the Main River and passing through numerous locks, which really slowed things down. We finally reached Miltenberg around 11:00 am. Our walking tour of the tiny town wasn’t scheduled to begin until 1:00, so I set out on my own for a tour of the town.CAF27127-6EDA-45BB-A78B-F381667B2F28.jpeg I got back to the boat in plenty of time to join the walking tour. Miltenberg has many interesting half timbered houses, but was not overly interesting - to me at least.875022C0-AB9E-44CE-B998-68D94A885B9D.jpegA43F788E-AFF4-4C13-9063-D97617CB9DEA.jpeg8A42DB52-9868-4E1D-B70F-54DE881FB097.jpeg We did, however, encounter several sets of the stumble stones we learned about in Amsterdam. After walking around a bit, we stopped by a cafe for a beer. FE9516C3-BEA7-4E59-82B8-08103BFE4BAE.jpegWe then transferred to Wertheim by bus. In Wertheim we went to a glass shop and museum. Wertheim is famous for glass products. We watched a glass blowing demonstration.C6132E96-7B2C-4375-A444-C95706E782FE.jpeg0A960C26-81EA-4A7A-9115-018AB04E96F0.jpeg7DBC79AD-FFB8-4A22-A3FB-18125EE020D3.jpeg It was ok, but the tour wasn’t particularly well organized. The teacher in me was less than impressed. After the glass place, we returned to the boat. By this time, it was getting pretty late. We quickly changed and went to the lounge for a cocktail and the daily port talk.
After the port talk we walked down to the dining room for dinner. We ended up at a table with a couple from Wisconsin, a couple from Australia and a recent widower from Vancouver. The meal was fantastic, the wine delicious and the conversation boisterous! At one point we looked around and found we were the only ones left in the dining lounge and all of the other tables had already been set for breakfast. We decided to go to the lounge to finish the evening. Maybe a little stumbling happened on the way back to our room.
